Local boy Myles Ellis13 founder of Knick Knack Paddy Wack Gourmet Dog Biscuits, has been shortlisted to be a contender for the Green Pupil of the Year category of The Argus Achievements Awards 2009. These will be held at the Theatre Royal Brighton on the 27th August 2009. Nicholas Owen, news reader and patron of The Argus Appeal will be hosting the evening with local celebrities presenting the awards. Myles was completely surprised that he had been nominated and is keeping his fingers crossed (in between baking) that he will be chosen to receive the much coveted award on the night.
Myles has been working hard all year making and promoting his Gourmet Dog Biscuits, selling them at local markets and supplying shops. He has been asked to supply The Weald & Downland Open Air Museum and is currently completing their large order. The museum have kindly donated 25kg of stone-ground wholemeal flour for him to trial for future orders.
Chailey school invited Myles with two fellow pupils to attend a Business Network International (BNI) breakfast meeting on the 3rd June held at the East Sussex National Golf Resort. Myles was asked to pitch his business, Dragon's Den style, to an audience of 30 business men and women (BNI members). He successfully fielded questions and was commended on his excellent presentation. Several offers of help and keen interest in his business were forthcoming. As a result of his impressive pitch the BNI offered to dedicate a section of their website to young budding entrepreneurs at Chailey School and across the county.
