FOREST ROW RESIDENTS SAY NO TO
RADIATION RISK
On 9 April 2009, Forest Row residents failed to prevent planning approval, by Wealden District Council, for the installation of third generation (3G) antennae on the mobile phone mast at Forest Row Fire Station.
Many Forest Row residents were there, some with their children. No one present could have failed to notice how the murmuring of the children’s voices throughout was a constant reminder of the gravity of this development. But, planning permission was approved by a vote of 6 to 4.
After the meeting, a group of Forest Row residents came
together to explore ways to campaign against this risk to health in our
community. On 9 May residents set up an awareness raising stall in the
heart of the village on Foresters Green. Handouts and information

On 6 May group members met with representatives from T- mobile. Also
present was Dr Klinghardt, an international lecturer on the effects of
electromagnetic radiation (click here for details of his talk on 6th July at Forest Row Village Hall ).
T-mobile said the installation would definitely go ahead and they would
keep us informed as to when. The mobile phone company has agreed to
finance an independent survey to measure the radiation levels around
Forest Row before installation. This survey will be able to tell us
what radiation levels we are exposed to and from which sources. The
monitoring company will come back after installation to measure the
change. We pointed out that Forest Row is a special place where people
come because it has less of the mainstream and more of the natural and
alternative aspects to life. And we want to protect that. The
response was that it will probably not be long before other networks
will want to increase their coverage. WE MUST REMAIN ON THE ALERT FOR THIS.
Following the success of a motion put before Wealden, the Council is
now calling on the Government to commission more research into the
effects of third generation (3G) mobile phone radiation. See our

Some more on the hazards of mobile phone mast technology:
- The European Parliament has voted overwhelmingly for a review of the legal safety limits on this technology.
- Italy, Belgium and other EU countries actually enforce far lower radiation levels than are acceptable here.
- 4 February 2009, a French Court of Appeal awarded financial compensation to residents living in the vicinity of a 3G mobile phone mast stating it was a health risk and “exceptional nuisance”.

We do not want this unnecessary health risk in our village. Please
join our campaign if you feel the same way. We also want to hear from
other places, villages and towns who are facing the same challenges.

I totally agree with Kenfarrar. Could we have some figures, e.g. number of campaigners v. number of residents. How many have heard of Dr Klinghardt? I have used mobiles & much higher power RF equipment, radar etc., & am still alive & kicking to tell the tale! A somewhat misguided, misinformed, scaremongering campaign...... It would make a pleasant change if your articles and those of your sympathisers could recognise that there are valid arguments and scientific research which have shown that there are no risks inherent in the erection of 3G mobile phone masts. Exactly how many Forest Row residents were protesting out of a total population in the village? |
