FRPC joins Greening Campaign Print E-mail
Posted by Forest Row Parish Council

Greening Forest RowThe Parish Council is joining the Greening Campaign which is spreading across the country community by community to address the concerns over climate change.  This is a campaign that will enable everyone to do their little bit towards making a difference.  Most people are probably already playing their part and will be able ‘tick the boxes’ very quickly.  The Campaign is simple to implement and the first phase will be launched officially in the Spring preceded by a public meeting where we will invite residents to give us their preferences from a long list of action points.

Forest Row Parish Council is committed, where practical, to taking action on Climate Change and environmental issues.  As part of this commitment the Parish Council agreed it would participate in the Greening Campaign, which is spreading across the Country, community by community to address the concerns over climate change. This will be a Forest Row Community response to an international problem.

This campaign is designed so all members of the community feel they have influence through small, inexpensive actions.  It is also designed to be fun and inclusive.  Finally it is designed to be practical so that all in the Community find that they can join in.

The Campaign has already been run successfully in a number of villages and towns in the south-east.  The Campaign is run in four phases.  The Parish Council has decided in the first instance, to run Phase 1 to engage the Community.

Phase 1 is a simple challenge card.  This allows everyone to take part.  Each household is given a card with a logo.  On the reverse of the card is a list of eight practical things for each household to commit to.

Examples of challenges are:

  Money saving/pa
CO2 kg saving/pa
Turn off light when you leave a room
 £6
 23
Wash laundry at 30ºC  £10  45

The next phase of the Campaign will be the official launch in June, details of which will be given at the meeting on 2 April.

THIS CAMPAIGN IS BEING LAUNCHED BY FOREST ROW PARISH COUNCIL.  FOR FURTHER INFORMATION PLEASE CONTACT THE PARISH CLERK ON:
