We have again entered the Sussex Village
of the Year competition, hoping to get further than the winners in our
Class. It would be good to represent Sussex in the
National competition. This is not about
what the village looks like but about what we do, encompassing topics such as
Community Life, Business, Young People, Senior Citizens and Quality of
Life. No one can deny that Forest Row is
a special place to live and work and hopefully we have conveyed that in our
application form. Watch this space….
The village has also been entered for the South East in Bloom competition. Now, this is more about how the village
looks. The judging will take place in
June and it would be great to have as much colour in gardens and baskets as
possible. Working together we can all
help the ‘Bloom’ Committee achieve its ambitions on our behalf.
We have some very happy gardeners in the
village as we have managed to let a further 40 allotments or ‘garden’ plots in
the past couple of weeks. We anticipate
having 2-3 raised plots for the elderly or less able members of our
community. The Council has worked hard
for nearly three years to get this project to fruition and it is gratifying to
see the enthusiasm and energy of all those whom we have been pleased to
accommodate on the new site.
In the hopes of ensuring that everyone
understands what the Parish Council does for the village, (and there are many
who don’t) here goes:
