Arson Ashdown Forest

Sometime between 1pm and 1.30pm on Tuesday 25th March police and the fire brigade were called to a fire in the area of Linton’s’ car park on the Ashdown Forest. Two further fires were also discovered in the area. Approximately 50 square metres of the forest belonging to East Sussex County Council were damaged as a result of the fires , but nobody was injured.

A Male has since been arrested regarding this incident .

Burglary – Chelwood Gate

Around midday on 22nd March a very elderly women was approached at her home address in Beaconsfield Road, Chelwood Gate by a stranger. The male stated he was a window cleaner and was collecting money for the work he had completed. This was untrue and by deceiving the lady he gained entry to the ladies home , stealing money from her handbag before leaving the premises.

The male was described as a white male in his early 40’s of approximately 6ft tall wearing a cap. The males face was described as friendly and full faced.
