Challenge Damage
At
the end of last year, the Safer Wealden Partnership introduced a poster
competition to the secondary schools in our area. The competition
‘Challenge Damage’ focused on challenging young people to help
prevent Vandalism, Graffiti and Arson in the community.
We
received hundreds of entries which where judged at Heathfield Community
College by members of the SWP. After a lot of consideration, 6 winners where
identified and a number of other entries were to receive commendation
certificates for their efforts.
The
creators of the winning designs (listed below) received a £50 gift token and
certificates which where presented to them at their school assembly by Chief
Inspector Neil Honnor (Wealden District Commander).
Winners:

Press Release
Fuel Thefts - Wealden Police Warns people to be Vigilant
Wealden
police have noted a small but significant increase in the number of thefts of
fuel reported in recent weeks. The thefts consist mainly of either diesel fuel
from vehicles, or heating oil, (red diesel) from heating oil tanks. Some of
these thefts may be attributed to the recent fuel price increases. The thefts
have occurred throughout the Wealden area, with North Wealden
having suffered slightly more.
Wealden
police advise members of the public who have heating oil tanks to review their
security. They should check that the outlet and filler are secured with
substantial padlocks. Consider fitting a cage around the oil tank. Consider
additional security lights to cover the area of the tank. A simple CCTV system
is relatively inexpensive and consideration should be given to CCTV monitoring.
A
number of vehicles have also been targeted. These are mainly commercial or
agricultural vehicles, and a number of these have had their fuel siphoned from
the tanks.
Wealden
police advise motorists to review where they park their vehicles overnight. If
at all possible, they should be parked in a well lit area, in public view. If
this is not possible, consider fitting anti-siphoning devices to fuel tanks.
Quote
from PC Jackie Baldwin-Charles, "I would encourage people to regularly
monitor fuel levels to check for sudden losses. Financial losses due to the
tanks being emptied can be substantial. I would ask that people are vigilant,
and report any suspicious activities to the police."

Scam
Essentially it details that you, yes you, have been selected
to receive a proportion of a one hundred million dollars fortune, sounds all
very Austin Powers, and all you need to do is to supply all your personal
details in order to receive it. I wonder, what makes me so special? Nothing. If
you receive anything like this in your inbox, do not give it the time if day,
delete immediately. If you do give into temptation you’ll get your
fingers burnt – it’s not worth it.
