Wealden Police Warns of Thefts from Cars at local Beauty
Spots
The
recent spell of warm spring-like weather has brought with it an unfortunate
spate of thefts from cars whilst they are parked at local beauty spots. To
date, a small number of unattended cars have been targeted, with wallets,
handbags, and electronic items being taken.
In
some instances, boots of cars have been forced open and property taken.
Quote
from PC Baldwin - Charles, "It would appear that the people responsible
were watching the motorists park their cars, and place property into their
boots before leaving their cars. This is bad practice. If property has to be
left in the boot, it should be stored there prior to parking at beauty spots.
Better still, do not leave any valuables anywhere in the car."
"Motorists
are advised to be vigilant to people acting suspiciously in car parks of beauty
spots. If anyone suspicious is seen, Wealden police should be informed on 0845
6070999. If an actual crime is witnessed, 999 should be used."
