Village Hall plans for the future! Print E-mail
Posted by Brad Scott

A new website and exciting plans for fundraising and improving the halls have been unveiled by the village hall management committee.

Freshfield Hall

Originally built in 1892, Forest Row village hall has been a focal point of community events for over a century. Managed by trustees and reporting to the charity commission, the hall is entirely independent and does not receive any public money.

The hall has a number of projects, big and small; the major projects are for a new roof for the main hall, and new windows for the small hall. The comfort of visitors is also a concern, and one of the new initiatives is to buy new chairs for the main hall.

The chair of the management committee, Vivien Hill, said “we have been running fundraising events for some time, and are now launching a larger campaign. We are inviting people, regular hall users, and businesses to make a donation towards the chairs. Each one costs £30.50, and we have already had an encouraging response.”

An additional avenue for raising funds is one adopted from the film society. Brad Scott, a village hall trustee, explained “We have registered ourselves with easyfundraising.org.uk. If you routinely buy things from online stores we can get a small percentage of the sale, at no cost to you.”

Information about all these initiatives are now available on the brand new website. It also includes notes on the history of the hall, lots of pictures, and listings from forestrow.org. The trustees would also love to receive any pictures of events in and around the halls, and any memories you have of the venue.
