Vehicle Crime – Forest Row

Sometime overnight on Saturday 19 January several vehicles were broken into in Priory Road, Forest Row and the road leading to Wierwood Reservoir. Various items were taken from the vehicles.

If anyone has any information they are asked to contact PC Julia Turner at Crowborough Police Station on 0845 60 70 999  quoting serials 618 of the 20th January 2008 ,or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Burglary -  Forest Row

Sometime between Friday 18th January and Monday 21st January a burglary took place at Southern Water Treatment Plant, Forest Row. Two Dell computers and a 17 inch flat screen monitor were taken. Both computers were less than a year old .

Tired of tyre dumping – from Wealden District Council

Wealden District Council is getting fed up with the large number of tyres that are being dumped at the road side in rural areas. In the past month the Council has had clear up over 300 tyres dumped along quiet country lanes, particularly in the south of the district.  Some are left in a large pile, others appear to have been thrown from the back of a moving vehicle along the entire length of the lane.

Council officers are  trying to track down  the source of the tyres by visiting tyre fitting outlets and small garages.

Wealden would appreciate  businesses telling us if they are approached by someone offering to remove casings cheaper than the registered tyre removal companies.

We would also welcome the public's help by contacting us if they see an unmarked vehicle carrying a large number of tyres.  Information about the vehicle; its registration number, time and place of sighting would help us greatly but please do not approach anyone.

Hailsham estate says no to cold callers
Residents of Harmers Way at Hailsham are saying no to unwanted callers by setting up a no cold calling zone on their estate. East Sussex County Council’s Trading Standards Service, the Safer Wealden Partnership and Hailsham Town Council have teamed up to set up the scheme.

The Harmers Way no cold calling zone will be officially launched at 11.00am on Thursday 31 January 2008 at Hailsham Community Hall in Vicarage Lane.

Residents attending the launch at the Community Hall will have the opportunity to hear more information about the scheme. They will be able to talk to people about crime prevention and home security and will also be able to get advice from the County Council’s Trading Standards Service.
