What is Pilates?
Pilates is the structural engineer of the body. The method builds a foundation of strength and flexibility to create a better balanced body. One of the most important aspects of the Pilates technique is that it starts with fundamentals - posture and breathing. Muscles are not worked in isolation as every part of the body is integrated in each exercise. Pilates technique is commonly referred to as the 'thinking exercise' requiring synchronicity of mind and body. The main benefits of practicing Pilates are :
- Improved posture
- Increased core strength
- Increased stamina, flexibility and balance
- Improved lung capacity
- Reduction in back injury
- Reduction of stress/tension levels
- A toned body without bulk
- Improved concentration
- A solid foundation for your chosen sport
