Wadhurst plans to give cold callers the cold shoulder – from Trading Standards
Cold callers will not be welcome in
Wadhurst if a plan by a partnership of councils and groups to introduce
a ‘no cold calling zone’ is accepted by local people.
East Sussex County Council’s Trading
Standards Service, Wadhurst Parish Council and the Safer Wealden
Partnership want to introduce the scheme to deter cold callers and
unwanted traders and protect vulnerable residents.
People in Wadhurst are being invited to
give their views on the issue. A public consultation will take place
from Wednesday 19 December 2007 until Monday 14 January 2008. This
will be an opportunity for residents, business people and faith groups
to ask questions and give their views to Trading Standards.
People in the Wadhurst area can give
their views by contacting Louise Baxter at the County Council’s Trading
Standards Service on Eastbourne (01323) 418228 or email
