APPEALS, MESSAGES AND NEWS
Good News
Crime levels fall – from Sussex Police
Crime levels are at a record low in
Sussex, and figures out on Thursday 20th September show the Force is
one of the most improved in the country when it comes to getting
justice for victims.
During the past year fewer offences were
recorded by the Force than at any time since the introduction in 1998
of the current method of recording crime. A report from the Audit
Commission, also out today, shows Sussex has again been graded
'excellent' for its standards of recording crime, giving reassurance
that its crime figures are reliable.

Alcohol Seizures in Hailsham
PCSO'S in Hailsham recently spent an
evening shift dealing with underage drinking in public areas. The
evening was a resounding success, seizing a considerable amount of
alcohol from groups of youths. Some youths are also attempting to
disguise alcohol in soft drink containers. However the PCSO's carry
alcohol test strips which can be used to test all liquids for alcohol.
If these liquids test positive for alcohol traces they are disposed of
on the spot. The child’s details are taken and parents will then be
contacted by the schools liaison officer PC Kate BROOKMAN.
Hailsham PCSO'S have been spending a
considerable amount of time recently dealing with this issue. The
reason for this is that underage drinking can lead to antisocial
behaviour and criminal damage within the community. Together with test
purchasing operations of licensed premises and a hi visibility presence
of PCSO's when youths are attempting to purchase the alcohol, we are
starting to see some positive results.
