Scams – do look at these links, I don’t put them in to look pretty, they are a mine of info!!
I have been made aware by some of our
members that there are a few emails apparently from the Royal Bank of
Scotland and a bew one from a Japanese banker from Hong Kong. Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) –
as usual emails are sent from what looks a reputable source, in this
instance RBS. Never respond to emails from a bank/building society that
is asking for your personal details, delete. Always report these emails
to the bank/building society named. This is a phishing or pharming
(this involves a fake website made to look like the genuine article)
scam, your details may be used to commit crime.

Hong Kong banker –
This is a variation of the Nigerian scam letters. This is in email
format and writes a long winded story about an Iraqi Colonel who has
thirty million US dollars in his bank, he and his family were killed in
a bomb attack. There is no next of kin. This banker asks for you to act
as next of kin other all the money goes to the Japanese government if
not claimed within six years. The banker then asks for your personal
details to be sent to him and also for you to correspond to his
personal address. If it legitimate why not use the bank, oh that’s
right it doesn’t exist! Ask yourself, why me out of millions of people,
why not one of his countrymen? This is not the greatest opportunity
ever, it’s rubbish, what do we do with rubbish? Throw it away, into
your recycle bin. Delete the email, let others around you know that
this is a con. Unfortunately some people do believe these stories and
reply.
