The school has reached agreement with both East Sussex County Council and Forest Row Parish Council for the continued funding of the school crossing patrol.
Following further surveys undertaken by ESCC, it was determined that
the volume of pedestrians using the crossing was only 20% of what it
should be and the County Council arranged a meeting recently to see how
costs could be shared to retain the service. The agreement means that
ESCC will continue to meet 50% of the cost and the Parish Council and
school will share the remaining proportion equally (i.e. 25%
each).
This agreement was reached on the basis that the school could seek
external sponsors to help defray their costs. I am very pleased to say
that businesses in the village have been very supportive and we have
had firm offers from two sponsors so far. We are putting together a
plan to help these businesses get some publicity for their generosity
and will provide more information later.
In the meantime, we are all very pleased that we have reached an
amicable solution and that Paul Clevett will remain in place helping
our children and the community keep safe when crossing the Hartfield
Road. Please give him a friendly wave if you are passing or even pass
on a positive comment. I am sure he will appreciate your support as it
has been a difficult time with some uncertainty over his
future.
