Forest Row C of E School is well on the way to recovery after the floods reported on this web site a couple of weeks ago. It was not quite Gloucester but for a couple of hours, it did feel like people were swimming in it. The cause was an overflow of water from the nearby stream which could not cope with the deluge.
Friends and parents acted swiftly to volunteer to help channel away the flood water which help to reduce the amount of damage to the premises and contents. The loss adjuster appointed to survey the damage commended the school for acting so swiftly.
The school wishes to thank those people for their fantastic support many of whom have volunteered to come back and help more.
However, some damage has been caused mainly to floor coverings and to some contents and the loss adjuster has agreed with the school what needs to be repaired, cleaned or replaced. Much of this work will take place over the school holidays and it is intended that everything will be done to reopen the school on Wednesday 5th September.
Parents/carers should return to this web site at the end of August for information on opening or call the school office telephone number on 01342 823380 and listen to the recorded message.
