BRETT David
David has lived in the heart of the village for 16 years. He is an actor and musician who also works as a learning support assistant at Sackville School, where his wife is a Special Needs teacher. Their two children went to local schools including Michael Hall, Forest Row C. of E. School and Sackville. He also has experience of Planning procedures and issues through working as a researcher for an environmental data company. He is keen to retain the diverse and vibrant character of this unique village, and to foster the many exciting initiatives coming from local groups and individuals, particularly those concerned with the local environment, sustainability, and the arts. Think globally, act locally!

HILL Vivien
I have been on the Parish Council for eight years and have served on the Amenities, Burial and Finance Committees. Parish Councils are a valuable part of local democracy expressing local desires and achievements and I enjoy being part of this process. I worked locally for Kew Gardens for 5 years after teaching in London. I now work as a gardener whilst taking a degree in Archaeology. In addition to my duties as a Parish Councillor I am Chairman of Forest Row Village Hall, one of the volunteers who run this local charity. As a Parish Councillor I believe it is important to retain the rural character of the village, work for a sustainable environment and encourage local participation in the decision making process.

HOLT Valerine Gwendoline
I am 54 years old, married with two children in their early twenties. I have lived in this lovely village for just over five years and have been a Parish Councillor for the past four years, which I have found very rewarding. I am standing for election again as I would very much like to continue working for the benefit of the village and its residents. I have volunteered to be a member of the Recycling Champions Team following Wealden District Councils decision to chose Forest Row as a pilot for the exciting kerbside recycling scheme.

KEMP Susan Elouise
I have lived in Forest Row for 25 years. I was a member of the working group involving members of the Community, which produced the Parish Plan. I have been actively involved in many of the Parish Council projects, including the organisation of the Annual Spring Clean. My main efforts have been directed towards ways of enhancing the physical environment of the village such as litter collection, leaf clearance and village centre flower beds. I care about this village and would like to continue working on behalf of the community.

MANGER Nigel Ian Cunningham
I have lived in the village for 26 years and have served the Community on the Parish Council for the past four years. I have been Chairman since January 2005. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with fellow Councillors to make a positive contribution to the life of the village. We are all very proud of what we have achieved over the past 4 years and some of these achievements are listed overleaf. To be a Parish Councillor takes a great deal of commitment and dedication. All my fellow Councillors have provided me with their unstinting support. I am standing for re-election, as I would like to continue to serve my community and believe I have much to offer the village of Forest Row.

MONTAGU Angie
Angie Montagu settled in Forest Row in 2003. She was brought up in West Sussex and educated at Woldingham. She would like to represent parents bringing up their children here and artists and artisans working locally. As she becomes more environmentally aware she would like to encourage and aid environmental schemes. She supports the local shops and the two biodynamic farms and greatly appreciates our community. Her daughter, Delilah, attends the village school.

PRITCHITT Gwen
Having moved to the village with my husband and three daughters in 1969, I have grown to love Forest Row and have been involved in local life over the years - as a past secretary of the Parent Teacher Association, Play Group Leader for 10 years and Parish Clerk for another 16 years - as well as being involved in various local activities – especially the WI, Dramatic Society and Ashdown Pantomimers.
For the past four years, having missed being at the heart of things, I have been a member of Forest Row Parish Council:
- Serving on the Burials, Community Centre, Public Relations and Amenities committees.
- Involved in drawing up the Parish Plan.
- Preparing the entry for the Village of the Year Competition (we were runners up for Sussex in 2006 – judged on social provisions, especially for the elderly and young.)
- At present working on the new village Walks and Quizzes.
- Helping with the Thursday Club for the over sixties is another interest.
I am also an associate member of the Board of Governors for the Church of England School with special responsibility for community links and liaising with the Playgroup.
My main aims if elected again will be to uphold democracy, preserve what is good about our village and improve what is less good – to keep Forest Row a thriving place in which to live and work. I also have an interest in environmental issues – having taught the subject as part of the local council administration course for clerks and councillors over a period of some ten years.

SCOTT Brad
Brad Scott is director of a software company in Brighton and lives with his family in Forest Row. He is heavily involved in a number of areas in the community, especially the Film Society and the autumn arts festival. He also serves on the Village Hall Management Committee and keenly, if erratically, tends his allotment.

WESTLAKE Jack
As a Forest Row Parish Council member for the past 5 years I have worked hard to retain the rural nature of our village and to safeguard the interests of the inhabitants of the village. If re-elected I will continue to pursue these topics with my usual enthusiasm and energy. In addition I would hope to be the voice of reason should the East Grinstead Relief Road and its impact on Forest Row be considered by the District and County Councils. I would also use my extensive scientific knowledge to good effect when the Parish Council considers further environmental issues. I am a Trustee of the Forest Row Sports Ground Association and the President of the Forest Row Branch of the Royal British Legion.

WINTON Margaret Anne
I have been a Parish Councillor for over 6 years, with my main interests in environmental issue to make our village a pleasant place to live and work. I, with other Councillors, was instrumental in the creation of the Forester’s link. I am presently Chairman of the Planning Committee where my concern for the village well-being continues. Our Parish is a busy and largely self-sustaining community with much varied employment and local interests for all. I would like to see this continue – resisting large urban developments that would spoil our village identity. To this end I also support traffic calming measures and will continue to reflect the Parish Council in opposing any East Grinstead Relief Road that stops short of our village. I would like to continue serving this wonderful community.

WOGAN Jane Elizabeth
I am seeking re-election as a Parish Councillor for Forest Row as I wish to continue helping to keep our village a lovely and safe place in which to live and work. I was previously Chairman of the Amenities Committee, which during the past four years has done much to enhance the look of our village with projects such as Newlands Place, Foresters Link and the new children’s playground. I wish this work to continue. I am also an enthusiastic supporter of the kerbside recycling due to commence shortly following negotiations between the Parish Council and the District Council.
