Forest Row Primary school has changed lunch breaks forever!

It became apparent at the children’s school council meetings that pupils were getting bored at lunch play. Thanks to the ‘Active Kids’ scheme, the school collected enough to buy equipment for Playground Games, a way to keep kids happy and active during lunch break.

playgroundgames203300.jpgLots of people are in favour of Playground Games, when questioned by The Forester, Katie Batory, a midday supervisor said, “I think Playground Games are great but you need good leaders.”  She went onto say that the leaders must have good communication skills for the games to work effectively. Then she added, on a higher note that “It is wonderful to see children of different ages working together and having fun.”

Another person who agrees with her is head teacher Mr. Ian Allison, who says “I think the Quiet area (an area to colour and draw) is most popular with the children.”

Playground games cover a variety of activities. Hannah (aged 8) said “My favourite zone in the playground is the activity zone, because you have lots of things to do and you can enjoy playing games with your friends”.

Playground games have been a big, but great change for the children of Forest Row School. The year 6 children have been leading the activities. Craig (aged 11) said that he enjoys being a leader and likes to entertain smaller children. He also said that it was a big responsibility and you have to be ready to apply to their needs. We asked some of the children from reception what they thought about playground games they replied “before playground games started we didn’t have many things to do but now there are games to play”.
