Title: Crawley "Folk" FestivalCrawley "Folk" Festival this weekend? (in the theatre and grounds of the Hawth). The word 'folk' is in quotes, as it's a real mix of roots-based music, with most genres covered!
For blues fans, Lisa Mills is well worth seeing; for real country music fans, award-winning Lucie Diamond is a must-see; and for those who like their folk music a bit more contemporary (some might say sexy), then there's wonder-boy Seth Lakeman (headling Friday 27th) or the wonderful Karine Polwart (headling Saturday). To quote the festival blurb:
"A three day family friendly celebration of the best traditional and contemporary music that the folk scene has to offer. Music acts from Britain, Ireland and North America encompassing every style imaginable from English Ceildh bands to Scottish pipers, Irish bodhran players, to Welsh singers, Deep South blues to Canadian fiddlers, Cajun squeezeboxes to Appalachian pickers ....and sometimes a bit of it together! Real Ale tent, food stands and craft stalls, a new storytelling tent, dance stage, open air marquee amd camping facilities all adds to the feel-good festival vibe!"
At £35 for weekend (Sat/Sun) tickets, it's excellent value for money, too - most UK festivals with this kind of line-up are charging two or three times the price. Full list of acts appearing below, with more ticket info etc.
