Film Exhibition - Don Juan's Diary Edit Print
Friday, 27 June 2008, 8:00pm - 10:00pm by forestrow.org user

Don Juan's Diary is a tragic comedy with a twist of magical realism that blurs the lines between dreams, imagination and reality. Through free adaptation of the homologous character of Don Juan, the film brings the archetype of the seducer -- also known in classical literature as Don Giovanni or Casanova -- to an original and modern context. In this version the skill of the characteristically successful protagonist fails to bear fruit.

Don Juan's Dairy is the story of Josh, a young man on a quest to seduce the beautiful women who frequent the coffee shop, where he works, in an attempt to find "real love." Inexplicable things begin to happen as he struggles with the consequences of failing to realize his goal on time. The film also explores miscommunication, point of view and loneliness in the human search for intimacy.

Don Juan's Diary is the first feature length film by Luis Claudio Papini, a Brazilian filmmaker with a background in theater, fine art, commercials and short films for which he won awards. Papini was responsible for the script, direction, production and editing of Don Juan's Diary.

The film was an independent project with a meager budget. It took 3 years to bring to fruition. The soundtrack is rich in variety, and promises, like the cast, to highlight talented new and young artists.

Tickets cost £5 at the door. The director of the film will be present during the exhibition.
